Christmas Light Installation in Upper Doon & Doon South
Holiday lighting in Upper Doon along Doon Village Road and in the newer subdivisions of Doon South and Pioneer Park.
Doon is two very different jobs. Upper Doon is a heritage conservation district with houses along Doon Village Road dating from the 1840s to the 1890s, including the 1844 birthplace of painter Homer Watson. On those houses, seasonal lights are clip-on only, nothing fixed to the building, and any permanent fixture is checked with the City's heritage staff first. Doon South and Pioneer Park are the opposite: newer two-storeys with vinyl soffit, aluminum fascia and several front peaks. That is the strongest case in Kitchener for permanent lighting. The track tucks under the soffit on those clean roofs, every peak is traced once, and the house can be lit for Christmas, Halloween or a playoff night from the app. Newer homes often have an exterior outlet near the garage, which makes power planning simpler. The boulevard trees here are still young and City-owned, so tree lighting stays on private trees.

Frequently asked questions
Which parts of Kitchener do you cover?
All of it: Victoria Park, Civic Centre, Stanley Park, Rockway, Forest Heights, Country Hills, Upper Doon, Doon South, Pioneer Park, Huron Park, Williamsburg and the rest. The quote depends on the house, not the neighbourhood.
Is my house in a heritage district?
Kitchener's four heritage conservation districts are St. Mary's, Upper Doon, Victoria Park and Civic Centre. The City's heritage page has the maps. Clip-on seasonal lights do not alter the building; permanent track does, and the City's heritage staff decide whether it needs a permit.
Do you light condo and townhouse complexes?
Yes, when the condominium board or property manager approves it. In most condominiums the declaration and rules treat roofs, soffits and exterior walls as common elements, so a single unit owner cannot usually authorize lights on them. The board can, and complexes are quoted as commercial work.
